Frequency was engaged to manage both the technical and contractual sides of the Stolthaven terminal expansion, from design verification and HAZOP study right through to construction and financial escalation. The project is currently progressing as planned to reach practical completion in November 2023. The terminal expansion will enable the shipping sector to refuel in Tauranga following their relocation from the previous Auckland base. The fuel supplier, BP, will use the new 16 million litres of tank storage to refuel ships at rest in the Port of Tauranga. This will enable vessels to navigate longer distances with the knowledge that modern low sulphur fuel is available locally as well as provide additional revenue to the port and general Tauranga area. This is Frequency’s second project for Stolthaven Terminals with a third scheduled in 2024.
