The Northwestern Bus Improvements project enhances public transport reliability and connectivity in Northwest Auckland. It includes new bus stops at Te Atatū and Lincoln Road interchanges, extended bus priority lanes on SH16, and faster, more frequent services to the city. Construction began in July 2021, with interim Westgate bus stops completed in early 2023. The project was jointly delivered by Auckland Transport and New Zealand Transport | Waka Kotahi and funded in part by the Government’s COVID Response and Recovery Fund. This $100M project is a step toward long-term rapid transit solutions for the Northwestern Motorway (SH16). Frequency provided comprehensive cost management and reporting to the multiple stakeholder agencies enabling proactive data driven decision making.
