Counties Medical Health Care Centre
Client: Counties Medical
Dates: June 2015 – September 2016
Project Location: Papakura, Auckland
Frequency Role: Project Manager
The previous Counties Medical Care facility’s layout and operations were not conducive to current models for the provision of health care. To alleviate this issue Counties Care relocated the existing operations to a new location at 6-18 O’Shannessy Street, Papakura. The new premises offer services for:
- General Practitioners
- Nurse-led clinics and programmes
- Clinical programmes
- Pharmacy Services
- Specialist Services (for visiting specialists)
- Allied Health Services (Physiotherapy, podiatry, dental, radiology)
To accommodate the new facility, the existing building went through a significant upgrade with remodelled facades, improved pedestrian access, internal refurbishment and fit-out including new building and medical services.
Frequency provided a full range of project management services including consultant and design management, resource consent approvals, value management, procurement and contract administration including acting as the Engineer to the Contract.
There was budgetary pressure throughout the project and Frequency facilitated a structured value engineering process with the consultant team prior to tender and with the preferred contractor prior to contract award, to ensure the maximum possible vale was delivered to the users of the facility for the available budget.
A traditional procurement methodology was employed with full design completed prior to tender. The works were carried out under NZS 3910:2013 with Frequency acting as Engineer to the Contract and providing full contract administration services.
The facility opened on the 23rd September, 2016.
