Point Chevalier to Westmere Cycleway

Client: Auckland Transport
Location: Auckland
Service Line: Project Management Delivery
Team: Catherine Hemi

As part of the Urban Cycleways programme (UCP), Auckland Transport are planning to make it safer and more accessible for people to walk and ride a bike along Point Chevalier Road, Meola Road and part of Garnet Road. This project will deliver a critical missing link in an urban cycle network of high demand, while prioritising a safe system to create a space that is attractive and feels safe for all users. This will be achieved with the introduction of a uni-directional cycleway on either side of Point Chevalier Road and a bi-directional cycleway for Meola Road. The opportunity to rehabilitate the road pavement on Meola Road and resurface Point Chevalier Road will be completed concurrently with the overall project. The project is currently under design with construction programmed to start middle of 2022.
