Meet Savannah our Frequency Intern

Our intern programme offers undergraduates who are seeking a career in the construction industry, the opportunity to experience first hand, life as a project manager. We offer students paid placements across our offices throughout the year.

We chatted to Savannah, our Auckland intern on her experience and thoughts of her time at Frequency.

 

 

Tell us 3 interesting facts about yourself.

  • I have rowed for 6 years for high school and varsity teams.
  • I enjoy baking and cooking.
  • Born and raised in the mighty Waikato.

 

What are you currently studying?

Bachelor of Property / Bachelor of Commerce: Accounting and Taxation.

 

Why did you apply for the paid internship with Frequency and what were you hoping to gain?

I was at the stage of my degree where I was looking to gain insight into the industry and the corporate. This internship with Frequency was the perfect opportunity to gain valuable work experience and meet industry professionals.

 

What is the most interesting thing you have learnt during your time at Frequency, and any new skills, techniques, or knowledge?

In my intern position as part of the corporate services team, I have gained an understanding of how Frequency operates, and all the different roles and skills that contribute to the day-to-day operations. Through this role, I have developed my communication skills in a professional business environment.

 

Were there any surprises during your experience?

I was surprised at how versatile my role was, and the different areas of the business I can gain experience in.

 

Would you recommend this internship to other students? Why or why not?

I would 100% recommend an internship at Frequency to anyone looking to gain experience in property and construction. Not only does it offer great work experience, but Frequency has an employee focused culture with many benefits and social events.

 

How has this internship helped you for your future studies and career?

Not only has Frequency prepared me through practical experience, but the internship has also helped me grow my network and social skills within a corporate environment.

 

What is your advice for future Frequency interns?

My biggest piece of advice would say yes to everything, don’t pass up on any opportunity offered to you and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
